Day 281

“Come to Me”
Matthew 11:28

Can you imagine eating a specially prepared meal and never again being hungry in your life? Or drinking a specially prepared glass of water and never again being thirsty in your life?

Yet, Christ’s invitation is more real than that, and more profound because it changes our very nature.

It matters not who we are, what we have been or what we have done. If we answer His call, ‘Come to Me,’ we will never hunger or thirst again in our life. We will be satisfied completely and our nature will rest in Him. All our seeking, restlessness, and anxiety will end. Peace will become our state of life.

What a glorious One is He who loved us so much that He suffered and died for us. Even in the midst of our rebellion we were not looking for Him, not interested in Him, and not able to love Him. Yet, He loved and died for us while we were still sinners. He prepared a way for us and said, ‘Come to Me . . .’ He loved us first. What manner of love is this that the God of the universe reaches down into the mire and lifts us up, cleans us off, and places His robe of righteousness around us?

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”       Revelation 22:17
