GOD’S KINGDOM

Day 286

“For the Kingdom of God is . . .
righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”
Romans 14:7

Imagine if you had the opportunity to work and practice your future career while you were growing up. Then one day you stepped into your position as an accomplished person achieving everything that is expected of you. You would then reap the fruits of your work the rest of your life. In a sense, this is already true for you as a Christian.

The kingdom of God is a present day reality for those who yield their lives to the rule of the Spirit. We have been transferred into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13) and given the opportunity be a co-worker bringing the kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. We can reap peace and joy as the fruit.

“Thy kingdom come” of the Lord’s Prayer is the Father’s will to be done on earth, as it is heaven. It is a prayer for God to reign and to manifest His sovereignty and power through us. The kingdom of God is also a future event when there, “will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:11). It is a day when, “the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father” (Matthew 13:43).

“What is the kingdom of God like? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew, became a tree, and the birds of the air perched in its branches” Luke 13:18-19
