Day 192

“He is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I am trusting Him”
Psalm 91:2

This is the place we should be in at all times. But to be there we have to be dwelling and resting in God our Father. How can we know Him unless our relationship is mature? The prodigal son’s brother didn’t know his father, yet he had everything. So when it came to mercy, he had none and got angry with his father for receiving his brother back! He lived in his father’s house and didn’t trust him!

It’s possible to taste of God’s refuge and safety. It’s possible to receive grace and mercy from Him, yet not really know Him. When it comes to going through turbulent waters, we must have the revelation and understanding of our Father’s almighty power, protection, grace and mercy in our lives. We need to know His character and integrity beyond any shadow of a doubt. And that only comes from a mature relationship and intimacy with Him.

“He who dwells . . .” tells it all. It is that Christian who will find shelter, rest, refuge and complete total trust in the Lord, knowing He is our fortress. Then, and only then, will you pass through the waters and fire untouched. He is our God and He will deliver you.

“If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most
High your shelter, no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your dwelling.”
Psalm 91:9-10
