MUCH MORE

Day 35

“Much more then, . . . we shall be saved
. . . much more, we shall be saved by His life”
Romans 5:10

“Much more” – what a great statement. We are not only saved, but He also will keep us saved. His love is so great that He died for us while we were yet sinners. He then pursued us in order to rescue us from final judgment, having made the way for us by the cross.

Here is the greatness of God’s love; His blood brought us into a right relationship with the Father, removing the indignation and wrath of God, forgiving all our sins, and making us friends instead of enemies. His blood sanctified us, brought us God’s acceptance, and secured our future in Him. The great ‘much more’ refers to the continuing and effectual work of the cross in our life: His sacrifice forgives not only all our past and present sins, but also any we will commit in the future. John says, “…the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin” [1 John 1:9]. He is faithful to forgive our sins, and “much more”: His resurrection life gives us daily deliverance from sin’s dominion.

“Much more” is the promise of perseverance of our life in Him. God will not allow us to be lost. He will see our final salvation. He will perfect the good work He began in us until the day of Christ Jesus. Yes, the magnificent of God’s glory is that He has not only saved us, but He keeps us saved!

“I shall lose none of all that He has given me,
but raise them up at the last day”
John 6:39

HIS MANNA – Part 2

Day 21

“You surely must not set your heart on what you
will eat or what you will drink, nor must you
live in a state of constant worry”
Luke 12:29-30

One of God’s covenants to man is that He will provide for all our needs. Have you ever noticed that children never wonder whether their parents will feed them that day, or if there will be a roof over their head that night, and clothes to wear tomorrow? The question never enters their minds. Adam never questioned God about provision… until he fell from grace.

One of the most insidious questions asked by fallen man has been about God’s provision and care for them. When the Israelites journeyed through the Wilderness, they questioned God about provision, grumbling and complaining all the way. Yet, God’s response was His manna. Even in their sin, He made provision.

How wonderful our Father is, that He has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness. His provision sets us free from worry and permits us to seek His kingdom first, promising that then “all these things” will be granted to us. This not only means an abundance of spiritual blessings, but also our food, housing, clothing and all other physical needs. This is our testimony, that He is true and faithful, and we can live on His word – our daily bread.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul.
He makes . . . bread that sustains the heart”
Psalm 104:1,14, 15

HIS MANNA – Part 1

Day 21

“Feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your
fathers had known, to teach you that man does
not live on bread alone, but on every word
that comes from the mouth of the Lord”
Deuteronomy 8:17

The Israelites came out of Egypt to a new land God had prepared for them. He freed them from bondage in the world and brought them into freedom and His kingdom. However, coming out of Egypt did not make them righteous. They had yet to learn righteousness.

Put another way, receiving God’s salvation may take you out of the world, but to possess your new freedom, the world needs to be taken out of your heart. Although the Israelites saw a series of great miracles, such as the parting of the Red Sea, they still did not rely on God. They were like children – as soon as they needed something and did not get it, they forgot God’s provision for them. They complained and grumbled.

Many Christians are this way. They rely on their understanding, skills and ways to accomplish what they need and want in life. But, God is our provider. It is His provision that sustains us. God sent manna from heaven so Israel would know it was He who provided. He sent only enough for that day, so we would know to seek His provision every day. Moreover, tomorrow we must seek for new provision. Didn’t Jesus teach us to pray, “give us today our daily bread?”

He makes . . . bread that sustains the heart”
