THE GOD OF MUCH MORE – PART 3

Day 246

“…it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved [daily delivered from sin's dominion] through His [resurrection] life” [vs 10, Amplified]
Romans 5:6-10

At one time, we were enemies of God. Our life now is in Christ as His friend. While we were God’s enemy, Jesus died for us. How much more now that we are His children and friend will He do for us? Now we are objects of God’s love [Ephesians 5:2];

  • God’s grace [Ephesians 2:8-9];
  • God’s power [Philippians 2:13];
  • God’s faithfulness [Philippians 1:6];
  • God’s peace [John 14:27];
  • God’s consolation [2 Thessalonians 2:16-17]; and,
  • God’s intercession [Hebrews 7:25].

There is more:

  • He lives in us;
  • He has blessed us with with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3)
  • He continues to deal with sin in our life by delivering us daily (Romans 5:6-10);
  • He meets us each day with grace and mercy Lamentations 3:22-23);
  • He has established us in Him (Ephesians 1:11);and,
  • He has sealed us for our inheritance in Him (Ephesians 1:13-14).

All praise and glory to Him who has rescued us.

“If God be for us, who [can be] against us?—Who can be our foe, if God is on our side? He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” Romans 8:31b-32, Amplified

GOD’S PROMISES

Day 185

“Fear not . . .”
Isaiah 43:1b-2

God’s redemption comes with great and powerful promises. One promise is His Divine Presence and care throughout our life. Knowing these promises will keep us in life and in facing trials and tribulations

We were chosen by God before the foundations of the earth. His love called us to Himself and one of His first promises when He released us from captivity was, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you.” The blood of His Son was shed to redeem us and so we would know, He called us by name. We are His. He knows us intimately. We belong to Him. We are the sheep of His pasture.

Not one thing happens that He has not permitted. He is there in the midst of those times we encounter difficulty in our life. Even though our natural instinct is to cry out to God to deliver us, get us out quickly or remove it now, it may not happen. Instead of removal, He does something far greater – He takes us through it. He not only will be with us and not let us be overcome, we’ll not be harmed. And, He will give us encouragement.

“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows”

OUR UNCHANGEABLE GOD

Day 79

“I am the Lord, I change not”
Malachi 3:6

Theology tells us that God is immutable in His being. There are no mutations in God. There never was a time He was not; there never will be a time when He shall cease to be. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He can’t change for the better because He is perfect, and being perfect, He cannot change for the worse. All He is today, He has always been and always will be. He is perpetually the same. He is unaffected by anything outside Himself. He is uninfluenced by time. His power can never diminish nor His glory ever fade. This is why only He can declare, “I am that I am.”

There is a particular meaning in all this that is very important for us. The Lord has said, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” [Jeremiah 31:3]. That love for us is unchangeable. It is unconditional, completely independent of our behavior. He loves us as much now as He did when He chose us to be His. When all temporal things come to an end, He still shall love us as now. His love is eternal.

This love is greater than us. No matter that in our human frailty we will fail, falter, and sin, His love does not change – because it cannot change. This confounds us, as we are conditioned to human behavior that changes according to people’s decisions. We see love as changing, which is a direct result of fallen mankind and his sin. It causes us to believe God acts as we do. But He doesn’t. His word “stands firm in the heavens” [Psalm 119:89]. Oh, what comfort we have in His love for us.

THE GOOD GIVER

Day 78

“Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father”
James 1:17

God is our Father and provider. He has told us that no one who leaves their home and family for Him and for the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in the present age and in the ages to come. This is the promise for full provision in our lives, now and hereafter.

Consider all that you have; God gave His Son for you and you have received the gift of eternal life. He gives rest, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation, the righteousness of Christ, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, adoption and sonship, the inheritance of the saints and the hope of heaven. You have been placed in a family – the community of the redeemed. You have received everything necessary for life and godliness. And these are the only the beginning of His good gifts.

“I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear” [Matthew 6:25]. How could Jesus tell us that? Because He set us free and He is our Provider. He gave Himself so we do not need to be anxious, or need to worry about the affairs of life. Our rest is to be in Him. He is sufficient for us. That is true freedom and to walk in it is to know the glory of God in your life.

“Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty,
and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out
so much blessing that you will
not have room enough for it”
Malachi 3:10

HE IS OUR HOPE

Day 49

“For Abraham, when hope was gone, hoped in faith”
Romans 4:18

Probably one of the most extraordinary promises of God was made to Abraham; He promised him that he would become “the father of many nations.” The beginning of the fulfillment was another promise, a promise in spite of his hundred years of age and his wife being far past child-bearing years. Because Abraham believed God’s word, the promise of a child was fulfilled.

The fulfillment of becoming the father of nations begins with the fulfillment of having a son. When the son becomes a young boy, God calls Abraham to sacrifice him. Abraham believed in God and his promises and he was so fully persuaded and convinced, he did not let go of it. He took his son to sacrifice him and held the knife in his hand, raised it up to complete the act when God stayed his hand at the last moment, revealing His provision. For this faith and obedience, he was counted righteous.

We have many, many promises of God for our life during our earthly journey. And, we have many more promises for our eternal life. Do you know these promises? These are God’s covenantal word. The promises are our hope and by faith give us expectations of fulfillment. When life’s storms batter us, we have his word and in the age of grace and mercy he has given us the Holy Spirit as a seal of redemption.

We will see his glory.
